Sunrise from Black Balsam Shining Rock Wilderness Area Pisgah NF North Carolina

The Shining Rock Wilderness Area is a part of the larger Pisgah National Forest and is a massive wilderness area in North Carolina. It is located about 40 miles south of Asheville, North Carolina along the Blue Ridge Parkway. Infamous peaks such as Cold Mountain, hiking trails like the Art Loeb Trail, and areas that rise to elevations more than 6,000 feet are all found here. The Shining Rock Ledge contains some of the most beautiful peaks in the region and forms a geographical backbone in the area. The cold crystal clear winter air in the mountains allows for this type of long-range scenic images to be photographed.
