Moose Yearling Calf | Grand Teton National Park

Moose Yearling photographed near the Snake River in The Grand Teton National Park.

Newborn moose have fur with a reddish hue in contrast to the brown appearance of an adult. The young will stay with the mother until just before the next young are born. This yearling is almost ready to leave its mother. Cows with young calves are very protective and will attack humans who come too close, especially if they come between mother and calf.
