Flaming Azalea with Appalachian Tiger Swallowtail Butterfly

In the mountains of eastern Tennessee in early June the top of Roan Mountain’s alpine meadows come alive with flaming colors. The Flaming Azalea bushes are brightly displayed in vibrant yellow and orange flowers. This is an Appalachian Tiger Swallowtail Butterfly. The beautiful alpine meadow grasses are blowing gently as warm summer breezes roll over the mountain tops.
