Royal Terns | Outer Banks Barrier Islands | North Carolina

RTernsLOG_OUT

I visited this Royal Tern’s rookery on the small islands just off the coast of North Carolina. These island rookeries are protected by the North Carolina Wildlife Commission, access is very restricted for the nesting birds protection.  I was escorted by a North Carolina Wildlife Commission officer on a weekly check of the island.

WATCH YOUR STEP…..Those are eggs on the ground everywhere!

WEAR A HAT!

It will feel like its raining but its NOT water coming down on you, trust me. Don’t look UP!

Take lots of clean towels for the boat ride home!

You might not want to eat fish that night at dinner.

Thank you for time & interest in my work and please visit the website www.naturewurks.com for additional images.

As always all your comments are welcomed and very much appreciated!
