Killdeer | Great Dismal National Wildlife Refuge
I photographed these Killdeer birds running along the canals in the Great Dismal National Wildlife Refuge in eastern coastal Virgina. They have such a great photographic orange-red eye ring.
The low “Eye to Eye” angles were shot with a 300mm lens, lying flat on the ground and crawling along with the birds. They can live in grassland habitats such as fields, meadows, and pastures as well as along the shorelines.
